THE ROTORUA DISTRICT. FISH IN GOOD CONDITION. [by Tni/EGKArn. —own correspondent.] ROTORUA, Tuesday. The conservator of fish for Rotorua. Mr. A. Ivean, reports that for tho fortnight prior to Easter, there was not a great deal of angling in the Rotorua lakes district. Weather conditions were somewhat unsettled and unsuitable, but the reports showed that some good fishing was done and that the average weight and condition of tho fish taken were verysatisfactory. In Lake Rotoiti the condition of the fish was reported as fair, and the average weight was 3Jlb. In Lake Rotorua, launches, rowboats and boats fitted with outboard engine? all did woll. A limit catch fell to the rod of Mr. Wolfgram, who fished at tho Awnhou at night. His 15 fish averaged and included a 911). fish. At the Waitete, seven good fish, averaging 31b., were taken by Mr. Meale. His bag included a 71b. brown trout. Some good fishing was enjoyed 111 the Waikato River, particularly in the vicinity of Atiainuri, where some phenomenal rises of fish were reported. Mr. Gerald Graham fly-fished tho Aratiatia rapids one afternoon and secured seven fish, averaging 51h., with the heaviest 811). The fish were in good condition. Mr. Fulljatnes, near Rotokawa, secured one fish of 111b. and one of 7ll>. Tho Waimana, Whakatane, Tarawera and Waioeka Rivers, in the WhakitfaneOpotiki area, were fished by a number of anglers, and the fish taken were all in good or very good condition. The average weight of the fish was not loss than A 91b. fish was taken by Mr. .T, Adams 011 the fly in the Whakatane River.
