PENNY IN THE SLOT.
SCHOOL PUPILS' Ct)INS. DRAWING BOTTLES OF MILK. [from our own correspondent.] CAPETOWN. Feb. 10. For the first time in South Africa s pennv-in-the-slot milk machine has been introduced at Durban, where scores of school children are putting their pennies in the machine and drawing clean, wholesome milk through an assized measure into straw cups At present over- 3000 penny bottles of milk, each about one-third of a pint, are sold each day to scholars in Durban schools. The milk is sterilised by a patent process, which has advantages over pasteurisation, as the milk is sterilised at a temperature above boiling point under pressure.
