SURF LIFE-SAVING.

CHAMPION TEAM DEFEATED. MILFORD TAKES HONOURS. In spite of wintry weather conditions there wa3 a fairly large crowd at Milford Beach yesterday afternoon when the champion life-saving team of the Dominion, from the Lya'l Bay Surf and Life-Saving Club, Wellington, was seen in action against a team from tho Milford Club. The competition included marching, land drill and a sevenDii'n rescue event, and the local team outclassed its opponents in all departments, although the visitors were unlucky in getting out of their course in the rescue, which co:-t them 30 points. Their work throughout. v.-.ia below their usual form. Owing to their best men being away on ft visit to Tauranga, the Tuknpuna Club was unable to compete in tho seven-men contost, but earned o/T the four-men event in smart style.
