SURF COMPETITIONS.
TOO MUCH " POT-HUNTING."
The view that there wore too many surf competitions and that the safety of the beaches was being sacrificed for "pothunting" was expressed by Mr. T). V. Wilson at a mooting of the Canterbury Surf Life-Saving Association in Christchurch hist week. Tie said that tho days taken up for competitions should be brought down to two. or otherwise some of thorn should be abandoned. He thought there should be more club compelitions arid fewer inter-club events. Mr. C. R. Riordan suggested that competitions should be restricted to 0110 team from each •club and that there should be one day for competitions before Christmas for the benefit of the men training for the Christmas period on the beaches. A subcommittee was appointed to consider the question.
