VICTORY FOR FORBRA.
SHAUN GOILIN RUNS THIRD. LONDON, March 115. Only eight horses out of the field of 36 completed the course in the Grand National Steeplechase at Aintree to-day. The race resulted as follows: — GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE bf £IOO each for starters, with £SOOO added; second £BOO, third £SOO, fourth £200; about 4 miles 856 yards. FORBRA, W. Parsonage's brg, 7yrs., by Foresight —Thymbra, 10.7 . . 1 EGREMONT, Mrs. Ireland's ch g, by White Eagle—Queen Mother, 10.7 2 SHAUN GOILIN, W. H. Medwood's ch g, 12yrs., sire's pedigree unknown—Golden Ray, 12.4 . . 3 Won by three lengths, third horse eight lengths away. For bra and Egremont ran over threequarters of tJie journey together, arid jumped the last fenco on terms. Forbra withstood a cliallengo from Egremont and beat him home by three lengths. Grakle, last year's winner, refused to jump one obstacle. Gregalach, winner in 3029 and second last year, fell, Shaun Goiliu was victorious in 1930. Thero were no serious falls in the race, in which wide interest was taken owing to the large sums offered in prizes in connection with the Irish Hospitals Sweepstake. It is stated that English holders of tickets in respect of the first three horses will receive a total of £645,000. Ihe Prince of Wales and Prince George flew to Aintree this morning in their private aeroplane to witness the Grand National Steeplechase.
