MAORI HORSEMAN ROBBER
INCIDENT AT WAITARA.
ALLEGED THREAT TO SHOOT.

A hold-up at the point of a revolver is alleged to have taken place at Waitara during the week, a Maori, Richard Brown, being the victim. When proceeding on horseback to his home on Karaka Flat about 10.30 p.m., Brown, who is well known in Waitara, was accosted by a man afc the foot of Big Jim's Hill on the main road to New Plymouth. Brown was requested to dismount from his horse. Thinking assistance of' soma nature was required, he complied, whereupon the stranger appeared to point, something which it is thought might, be a revolver at him and demanded that he hand over his money.
The demand was accompanied by a threat to fkoot and Brown handed over all the money lie had in his possession, about £2 14s. The man, it is stated, then went to a car which was parked a short distance away, with another man standing near it, and the two men drove away in the direction of New Plymouth.
The police wero advised of the incident,
