ACCIDENT AT BRIDGE.
CAR STRIKES TIMBER. ELDERLY WOMAN INJURED. [FROM OT'R OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAUPIRI, Saturday. .An elderly woman, Mrs. McGill, of Wellington, was admitted to hospital today suffering from severe shock received when a motor-car in which she was travelling crashed into some heavy timber at the north end of the Mangawara Bridge, Taupiri. She was thrown violently against the front seat. Another passenger, Miss Oldfield, was thrown out of the car, receiving a severe shaking and injuries to the face.
The driver of the car, Mr. Mcßurnie, of Mangere, escaped with several cuts on the face and a fourth occupant was practically uninjured. The bridge was blocked for a time, the car being considerably damaged. It was removed by a break down waggon.
