WATER FOR NAPIER.
EMERGENCY SUPPLY. The borough engineering authorities in Napier are considering the proposal i.o sink sumps in various parts of Napier to form a source of water supply in the future in the event of the supply from the reservoirs failing at any time. When the town supply failed at the time of the earthquake no water was available with which to extinguish outbreaks of fire, and it was suggested that S "™P* should be constructed from which theie would be water available in the ® vent . °* the ordinary supply failing. In t\vo parts of Napier South these sumps ai« r*ady for use if called upon and additional ones will be . put down in th* business area of the town later.
