NEW DIVORCE PARADISE.
THE RUSH TO RIGA. RENO'S POWERFUL RIVAL. * Riga is rapidly rivalling Reno as a centre for quick divorce. Would-be divorcees from all over the world are flocking there attracted by the quick and easy Latvian divorce laws, which enable a couple to sever the marital knot with a despatch which knocks Reno " into a cocked hat." A correspondent lately found in the leading hotels in the town three pretty American women, five Germans, two Parisiennes, and one Englishman, all of whom were seeking to get a quick divorce. The divorce rush, however, has only just begun, and it is stated in Riga that within a few months it is expected that scores will bo flocking from all over Europe and America. Speculators, anxious to participate in the prosperity which the Lativan divorce laws are expected to bring, are arranging to build new night clubs and fashionable resorts, where the divorce seekers can amuse themselves while waiting for their decrees to come through.
A divorce in Riga to-day costs very little, and there are few tiresome preliminaries. The whole thing can be carried through with the easy regularity of clockwork.
All Riga was interested by the arrival there of Frau Hilda d'Albert, the eighth wife of Eugen d'Albert, the famous composer of Scottish origin. ' She went to defend her interests in the divorce petition at the instance of her husband, but Mr. d'Albert obtained his decree.
