JERSEY CHAMPION.
AN AUSTRALIAN PURCHASE. Included in the, shipment, of pedigreed live stock which arrived at Melbourne from England by the Aberdeen and Com monwealth line steamer Mahia, this month was the Jersey cow Wonderful Drac.onis. reserve champion at the most recent show on Jersey Island. Wonderful Draconis, after winning that high award, which makes her at least the second cow on Jersey Island, was purchased by Mr. F. Bidgood, of Staghorn, Wodonga. i A 1 though not yet. three years old, as she was calved on April 26, 1929, Wonderful Draconis already has an impressive show yard record. At the Granville, and St. Saviours show last October she. was the first prize heifer in milk class; senior champion of the Orauville Parish , winner of Sweepstakes of Orauville and St. Saviours, and champion of the whole, show. .At the Island show later in the month, she was awarded second prize in the heifer in milk class (the first prize, heifer being champion of the show) ; reserve champion of the show, and also in the prize-winning group (sires' progeny classes, 1931). Tier dam, Bowlina Proconis, has an official record of 5271b. butter and won first prize over Jersey in 1927, while her sire. Wonderful Standard, was reserve champion with his progeny of five daughters over Jersey in May, 1931, and first over Jersey in August and October. 1931, in the progeny classes. Wonderful Draconis was served on November, 2, 1931, by La Sente's Pallas Victor, ex the famous island cow Princess Pallas.
