MISSING INFANT.
GANG LEADER'S OFFER.
JOIN SEARCH IF RELEASED. (Received ilarch 11, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK. March 10. The kidnapped infant son of Colonel and Mrs. Charles Lindbergh is still missing. A story in circulation to-day was that the famous airman, disguised in the uniform of a New Jersey State trooper, was making mysterious night rides ostensibly for the purpose of following up clues. A message from Chicago states that the notorious gangster, Al. Capone, now in gaol, lias offered to furnish a bond for £40,000 if the Government will release him on bail to join in the search for the missing child. He declares ho could do more than all the detectives in the country.
Henry Johnson, tho friend of Betty Gow, who was tho kidnapped baby's nurse, was formally placed under arrest to-day on a charge of violating the immigration laws in Brooklyn in 1927. It is reported that the kidnappers, who are keeping their identity and hidingplace a closo secret, have demanded a larger ransom than the original £IO,OOO asked.
