SURF LIFE-SAVING.

PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The Auckland provincial life-saying championships for the Laidlaw Cup will bo held nt Milford to-morrow morning. The contest, which is for four-man alarm teams, is carried out under conditions similar to those in an actual rescue. The beltman's time in the water is perhaps the deciding factor and keen competition is expected anions the eight teams taking part. A Milford team at present holds the trophy, with which goes the honour of provincial champion beltmon. In the afternoon three teams will compete for the land drill trophy, the Pirate Shippe Plato. This is an open competition in which the methods of rescue and release as laid down by the Royal Life-Saving Society are shown followed by resuscitation and promotion of warmth. Takapuna B is tlie present holder of the trophy. Teams that were to compete from Te Puke are unable to make the trip.
