TROTS AT CARTERTON.

PROGRAMME FOR TO-DAY. PROSPECTS OF SANDOWN. The second one-day meeting o£ the South Wairarapa Trotting Club this season will take place at Carterton to-day, good fields being engaged in the majority of the events. Ihe principal races, the Mangapari and t inal Handicaps, have drawn several competitors of useful class. These include the Canterbury-trained pacers Sandown, Linella and Silver do Oro. Silver de Oro, who has raced consistently over shorter journeys, will have a chance to prove her stamina in the Mangapari Handicap, and should have good prospects oil the front line. However, she will be severely tested by more proved stayers such as Rangihau, Lady Author, Sandown, Native Horo, Hilltop and Whippet. In the shorter race, the Filial Handicap, Silver do Oro has a splendid chance of breaking her run of minor placings. Linella, Lightwood, Poi, and some of the back-markers who escape a penalty in the big event, may bo her most dangerous opponents. The following may be well supported:— Martinborough Handicap.—Goldzone, Bara Gold. Tarutahi Handicap.—La Campione-Lucky Voyage bracket. Amy Etawah.
