SYDNEY'S ROYAL SHOW.
OPEN ON GOOD FRIDAY. USUAL PROTEST MADE. The management of the Royal Show in Sydney is a party to a double-barrelled controversy. There is the usual Church protest against the show being open on Good Friday, but the protest is extended this year to cover the whole of Holy jWeek. The discussion has revealed a lack of information in some quarters as to .when Holy Week begins and ends. Sir Samuel Hordern and other officers of the Royal Agricultural Society do not break new ground. The society says, in effect, that no sacrilege is intended, and that, in any event, it needs the money. Moreover, the people have indicated by attending the show on Good Friday in larger numbers than on any other day that they have no objection. The people, however, says a correspondent, have a decided objection in these days to paying 2s for admittance to the ground. They are expressing it. Sir Samuel Hordern has replied: "See what you get. You can remain all day and half the night for the one charge, and the charge for children is only 6d." The suburban resident, estimating the likely expenses of a day at the show, is perturbed, ®nd he continues to make his protest.
