DIGGING FOR TREASURE.

ADVICE OF A WITCH. Excavations in search of buried treasure are being conducted by Vilotiyo Nikolitch, an ex-pulico sergeant, of Sircha, near Kralyovo, in Serbia. Aftor lie and his associates had been labouring for upwards of a month, the treasure remained as distant, as ever. This, as Viloliye explains, is due to the fact that during each new moon the treasure moves before them as they dig deeper and deeper into the ground. Recourse has therefore been had to a witch, who recommended a libation of blood and laid down the method for the selection of a victim. Unfortunately, when this latter ceremonial was duly carried out no sacrificial animal presented itself. The diggers, though disappointed, are not disheartened, and continue to work tn,l.(.fully on the marshy .site.
