WHANGAREI.

A dance in aid of the Tennis Club funds was held in tho Tapuhi Hall, by members of the Tapuhi Tennis Club. Among those present were:—Mrs. J. Koatley, Mrs. J. Fold on, Mrs. A. Iledley, Mrs. Sanson, Mrs. W. Iledley, Mrs. G. Rhodes, Mrs. E. J. Nash, Mrs. E. S. Ralls, Mrs. L. Williams, Mrs. C. Ilauraki, Mrs. Lec (Sydney), Mrs. Millard (Auckland), Miss S. Rouse, Miss G. Lynch, Miss M. Rouse, Miss M. Allan, Miss E. Rouse, Miss F. Ramsay, Miss G. Iledley, Miss F. Iledley, Miss J. Forsythe, Miss M. Forsythe, Miss Anderson, Miss M. Baylis, Miss K. Ilauraki, Miss L. Kake, Miss M. Dobson, Miss V Nash, Miss E. Nash, Miss R. Nash. Tho Mangapai Leap Year ball was a great success, tliero being present visitors from all parts of tho district. Music was supplied by Mr. R. Goodison's Orchestra and extras by Mrs. Finlayson and Miss McPhee. Among those present were:— Mrs. B. Finlayson, Mrs. S. Ormandy, Mrs. G. Carter. Mrs. It. Exley, Mrs. A. Thomson, Mrs. D. Barry, Mrs. G. Price, Miss McPhee, Miss M. G. Thomson, Miss Bishop, Miss P. Carter, Miss D. Carter, Miss 11. Thomson, Miss E. Thomson, Miss V. Bell, Miss E. Thomas, Miss K. Johnston, Miss M. McGregor. Miss P. Wood (Auckland), Miss N. Sloanc, Miss I. Walker, Miss It. Deeming, Miss G. Kirkwood, Miss P. Dawe, Miss T. Draflln, M iss R.. Leo, Miss C. Deeming, Miss M. Whittle, Miss T. McCullough, Miss M. Bercich, Miss J. Bercich, Miss M. Thomson. Mrs. G. 11. Hill, of Graham Street,. Whangarci, was welcomed homo at a social function arranged by iho Whangarci Nursing Division of tho St. John Ambulanco Brigade. Mr. W. McLcod made a speech of welcome and apologised for the unavoidable absence of Dr. S. 11. Ward, the superintendent. Mrs. Beach (piano) and Mr. C. Roberts supplied free music for tho dancing which followed. Dining tho evening Mrs. Hill gave a very interesting account of her experiences in England and on tho Continent, and of the centenary celebrations of the St. John Ambulance, which slio attended in London.
