Mackay, secretary of tlie Renown Miners' Union, was present, and the Power Board coal contract "was discussed at some length. A further protest was made by the council against the whole Waikato coal order being given to one company. Telegrams are to bo forwarded to the Prime Minister and Messrs. 11. E. Holland and D. S. Reid, M.P.'s. Tho Mayor, Mr. W. 0. E. George, will represent the Borough Council on a deputation which will wait upon the Prime Minister or other Ministers at Wellington early next, week. It is understood representatives of various coal-mine owners and tlie miners' district council will also be present. A telegram of protest has been forwarded to Mr. Reid from the secretary of the Huntly Businessmen's Association.
