POLICE COURT NEWS.
THEFT BY FARM HAND. TERM !N BORSTAL INSTITUTE. A farmhand, Leo John Wilson, aged 20, was sentenced to a term of three years in the I3orstal Institute for theft when he appeared in the Police Court yesterday before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M. Accused pleaded guilty to stealing articles and money to the value of £8 17s 6d, the property of H. P. "Chatfield, at Waiuku, a letter containing £2 5s in pound notes and a postal note, the property of C. P. .Alpiti, at Waihou, converting a bicycle to his use at "Waihou, and stealing trousers valued at 15s at Auckland. Detective-Sergeant 11.I 1 . Kelly said Wilson had previously been in the Borstal Institute, and the magistrate sentenced the accused to a further term there for the theft at Wauiku. Accused was remanded to appear at To Aroha on March 17 on the charge of stealing the leLter, and convicted and discharged on the other counts. Said by Mi'. Kelly to have had 96 previous convictions, Ernest Edward Cox, labourer, aged 49, was sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment when lie appeared on charges of drunkenness, being a rogue and vagabond with insufficient lawful means of support, and stealing an overcoat valued at £2.
