Holders of 1936 5j per cent, continued to quote £9B ss, luil after early bids of £97 10s buyers withdrew. The 1937 fi.J, per cent, inscribed stock was sought 2s 6d lower at £97 10s, but, holders increased their quotations a similar amount, to £97 17s f)d. There was an active demand for banks, will) quotations showing an upward tendency. New South Wales were disposod of 2s t>d higher at £25, buyers later offering 5s higher at £24 15s and holders advancing 2s 6d to £25 2s 6d. New Zealanrls vein released early at. 42s 6d, but when more were sought on a lower basis holders quoted 3d in advance al 42s 9d. Although buyers were prepared to pay more for all other bank shares holders alsp raised their bids and no further business was done. In general insurance shares were not siuiffht, the only offers being for South British, unchanged at 495. Holders did not vary quotations. Advanced prices wore recorded in other sections. Auckland Gas were released ljd highor at 21s 10£ d. A sale took place in Farmers' Trading Company 3d higher at 5s 3d and a parcel of Sanfords changed hands at 2s 6d. Offers for mining weakened and holders lowered, their limits. Waihis were secured three times Id lower at 16s and a sale took place in Mount Lvclls 9d lower at 19s Id. Gulden Dawns changed hands unaltered at 7s. New Guinea Goldfields were called for the first time, buyers offering 4s 6d and holders quoting 5s 9d.
