DEATH OF BUSHMAN.

OPEN VERDICT RETURNED. "The evidence is not sufficient on which to return a verdict of suicide," said the coroner, Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., at an inquest regarding the death of Samuel Hawthorne, aged 62. Deceased's body was found in dense bush on Corcoran's Ridge, Wailakere Ranges, a razor being near by. Evidence of identification was given by George Frederick Cross, who said Hawthorne was a bushman who had worked for many years in the Kaipara district and lately resided at Mount Eden. The deceased was Inst seen by witness toward the end of January, when he appeared to be in good spirits. An opon verdict was returned*
