AKARANA CLUB'S EVENTS,"
FOUR GENERAL HANDICAPS.
CONTESTS FOR VARIOUS CUPS. The Akarana Yacht Club will hold a series of harbour races to-morrow afternoon. The keel yachts will compete for the Commemoration Cup, classes H, L and N for th& White Cup, classes M, V and S for the He-o-lin Cup, classes T, X and Y for the Eliot Davis Cup, the Star class for the Brett Cup,, and the motor-boats for. the Ailsa Craig Cup. In addition, the T class will compete for the Akarana lift, championship, which will be sailed in conjunction with the general handicap for 14ft. classes. Other events on the programme includo races for naval whalers, Tauranga 7ft. midgets, and class Z. All races will start and finish off the clubhouse between the auxiliary scow Waikonini, which will be used as flagship, and mark moored north. An At Home will be held in the afternoon and a dance in the evening. A picnic will be held during the week-end. The officials in charge of the racing will beStarter, .Mr. H. Hill; judge, Mr. J. Nyria, Crusader, Octavia S. . The handicaps will be declared today. The' course for the Tnnranga midgets, naval whalers and the Trevic Shield contest for class Z will he decided to morrow afternoon.
TREVIC SHIELD CONTEST. FIRST HACK TOMORROW. The first, annual inter club contest for the Trevic Shield for Z class boots will be held to-morrow in conjunction with the Akarana Yacht Club's harbour fixtures. "The. race will start at'3.lo p.in. from off the clubhouse, and the course will be -decided upon shortly before the start. The clubs and their representatives are as follows:—Ponsonby, Me Too; Akarana. Kitty; Victoria, <)i; Richmond, Ngaio; Tiimiiki, Trevic; Point Chevalier; Delphiiie: Taknpuna. Vindictive; Manukau Yacht Club. Edna V. The Trevic Shield ivha presented to the Takapuna Boating Club by Mr. W. A. Johnston for annual competition in class 7.. This year the race is being conducted by the Akarana Club, and in future races will be carried out by the club winning the trophy. .All boats will start from scratch. MANUKAU YACHT CLUB. harbour i{Aces to-morrow. The Manukau Yacht and Motor-boat Club will hold harbour races for yachts and launches to-morrow over No. 1 course. Every boat competing in the launch race must be steered by a lady member of the club. The yachts will start off the clubhouse at 2.30 p.m. from a flying start. The limit launch will etart from its handicap at 2.35 p.m. Following are the handicaps for yachts:— Drone, scr; Daphne, 7m; Betty, Aotea, 11m; Miss Mae, Nyria. 16m: Shirley, 20m; Wild Wave. 2Un; Almura. Mist Maid, Sea Toiler, 26m; Patricia, 35m. Handicaps for launches are as follows: Te Koa, scr; Miss Manukau, 2m; Norma, 24m 15s: Lticinda. 24m 455; Mary G., 27m 15s; Kaiahoi, 27m 30s; Shark. 55m BOs. The officers of the das* will bo Messrs. W. Vaughan and A. Grupen. A race for the 12ft. (iin. class will also be held under the supervision of Messrs. A. Coates. J. Jeffs and T. McKeever. MANUKAU CRUISING CLUB. The Manukau Cruising Club will hold a harbour race for yachts and launches tomorrow afternoon over No. 1 course. The limit boat in the yacht race will start at 2.30 p.m. and the limit boat in the launch race ten minutes after the start of the scratch yacht. Following are the entries and handicaps:— Yachts.—Aoma, scr; Sylvia, Drone, 3m: Champagne, Daphne, Sea Gnome, Sea Horse, 8m; Aotea, 13m; Shirley, 20m; Wild Wave, 30mJenny Lee. 32m; Almira, Lone Star, 33m. The postponed championship race for model yachts will be held to-morrow and also a general handicap for models.
rOFNT CHEVALIER CLUB. The Point Chevalier Sailing Club will hold a, general handicap at the week-end Tor li cup presented by the' Auckland Motor Bus Company. The race will start at 11 a.m. and will be sailed over the club's usual course.
