ADELAIDE TEMPERATURES.

COLD SNAP AFTER HEAT WAVE The recent period of high temperatures in Australia was followed, in Adelaide, by very different conditions. On February 23 the minimum temperature, recorded at. 6.30 a.m., was 48.2 deg.—the lowest registered in February since 1918, when a record of 45.4 deg. was established, incidentally. on the twenty-tbi)d of the month also. In 75 years thero have been only eight colder February mornings than this. The low record followed a cold day with a maximum of only 68.1 deg., and corresponded with the normal minimum temperature of the last, week of May At Stirling West and Strathalbyn minimum temperatures of 42 deg. were recorded. Even in winter this would be regarded as a low reading.
