SWIMMING.
AUCKLAND GRAMMAR SCHOOL ANNUAL SPORTS DECIDED. TWO RECORDS TO W. F. JOHNSON. Typical schoolboy enthusiasm and keen racing contributed largely to the success of the annual swimming sports of the Auckland Grammar School, held in the Tepid Baths yesterday afternoon. There was a good attendance of parents, friends and old boys, who were privileged to witness a fine programme, which included a number of novelty events, put through rapidly and efficiently. A feature was the fine swimming of W. F. Johnson, who broke two records, the junior 50 yards championship and the intermediate 50 yards championship. In the former event he lowered G. Bridson's time of 31s, established in 1924, by I 4-ss, while in the latter race he eet a new time of 31s. The record for the latter event was previously held by G. Pollard, who returned a time of 32s last year. The 100 yards school championship, 50 yards intermediate championship and the 50 yards junior championship events were all won by Johnson. An exhibition of swimming was given by Mr. D. B. Anderson. Following were the results:— Junior Championship, under 15. —Johnson, 1; Grant, 2; Cleave, 3. Time, 29 l-ss.
