ALLEGED SWINDLE.
NEW ZEALAND VICTIM. DETENTION OF SUSPECT. (Received February 29, 5.5 p.m.) VANCOUVER, Feb. 27. Baxter Mooney, who is alleged to have swindled Mr. W. K. Patterson, of Auckland, of £IOOO by a horse race confidence trick a year ago, is being held for the Vancouver police at San Diego. Mr. Patterson has returned to New Zealand.
