ROTORUA.

Miss Margaret Sloane, assisted by her mother, Mrs. T. Sloane, gave a delightful farewell afternoon at Whareora, Haupapa Street, on Saturday for Miss Mary Bertram, who is leaving shortly for Auckland University College to further her studies. Mrs. Sloane wore a frock of black satin beaute, and Miss Sloane was in lettuce-green crepe do chine. The guest of honour wore a turquoise-blue ensemble. The drawing room was arranged with Iceland poppies and sweet peas. During the afternoon a competition took place, the winner being Miss Joan Barber. Musical items were rendered by Miss Mary Bertram, Miss Margaret Sloane, Miss Ruth Winiata, Miss Ethel Sharpe and Miss Treacy Johnstone. Among the guests were:—Miss Gwenyth Sloane, Mrs. T. McDonald, Miss Joan Bertram, Miss Betty Bertram, Miss Ruth Winiata, Miss Joan Barber, Miss Roma Steele, Miss Ethel Sharpe, Miss Clara Sharpe, Miss Joyce Tucker, Miss Olga Louden, Winnie Steele, Miss Hazel Ford, Miss Treacy Johnston, Miss Nita Steele.

Mrs. C. Hitchcock and Mrs. A. Kusabs, who have been spending a holiday at Ohopo Beach, Wiiakatane, returned to Itotorua on Sunday.

Mrs. Moorhouse, of Now Plymouth, is at present on a visit to Rotorua. Miss M. Brady, of Auckland, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. C. L. Knight, King Street, returned to her home on Tuesday.

Mrs. F. Bunyard, of Amohia Street, who has been visiting Auckland, returned to Rotorua on Saturday.

Miss Cora Moore returned oil Monday from a short, visit to Auckland. Mrs. W. Garrard and Miss Jocelyn Garrard, of Cambridge, wlio have been spending a short holiday as tho guests of Mrs. G. Marshall, returned to their home on Sunday. Mrs. R. Griffiths, Miss Vera Griffiths and Miss Bobbie Vaughan arc spending a few days at Ohopo Beach, Whakatane. Mrs. A. G. Holland, of Carnot Street, left, on Monday to spend a short holiday at Taupo. Mrs. Hodgson and Miss I). Hodgson, of A raw a vStreet, are at present visiting Auckland and aro staying at Milford Beach.
