CRIMINALS PUNISHED.
MURDER OF MILLIONAIRE.
SENTENCES OF IMPRISONMENT.
(Received February 22, 8.45 p.m.) THE HAGUE, Feb. 21
A sentence of 20 years' imprisonment has been passed upon Koenings for the murder of M. Eschauzier. the millionaire head of the Dutch-Indian Sugar Union, last May. His accomplice, Tenders, has been sentenced to five years' imprisonment.
The body of M. Eschauzier was found in a packing case in an empty warehouse. The victim had been chloroformed and then strangled. The object of the murder was to make the victim sign certain cheques for the purpose of financing an invention—a metal sabot with a changeable sole. The men obtained £SOO, after which M. Eschauzier demurred at paying more, Tho men then persuaded him to accompany them to Koenings' house, where they chloroformed him, tied up the body and took it in a taxi to the warehouse, where it was discovered subsequently.
