AMERICAN CELEBRATION.
CONSUL ENTERTAINS. To commemorate the 200ih anniversary of the birth of the great American statesman, George Washington, a luncheon was given by Mr. W. F. Boyle, United States Consul in Auckland, and Mrs. Boyle, in the Farmers' Trading Company's rooms yesterday. Summer flowers added their brightness to the scene of the gathering and also in evidence wore the national flags, the British and American at one end and the New Zealand flag at the other end of the rooms. A few speeches added further interest to the occasion and musical items by Mr. Len Barnes and Mrs. Faykel (Miss Eva Stern) were enjoyed.
