foreshore reclamation. Reference to the death of Mr. P. P. Lipscombe was made at a meeting of tho Onchunga P.orough Council last evening. The Mayor, Mr. E. Morton, spoke of tho late Mr. Lipscombe's services to the borough as a councillor for eight years. A vote of appreciation of Mr. Lipscombe's public service was placed on record. In asking the council for a reduction in the price of water supplied to the Penrose, station yards, the district engineer of railways said the average consumption of water there amounted to 3,500,000 gallons annually. It was agreed to fix the price at lid" a thousand gallons on condition that the Railway Department took 8,500.000 gallons annually. It was decided to arrange lor the construction of an embankment on the Manukau foreshore, enclosing a proposed reclamation of 75 acres belonging to the council, between—the IVlangere Bridge and the Waikaraka cemetery. It will be an unemployment relief scheme.
