SALVATION ARMY.
PROPERTIES IN DOMINION.
NEWLY-FORMED TRUST BOARD
An event of considerable importance to the Salvation Army in New Zealand took place recently at the National Headquarters in Wellington, when the Salvation Army Property (New Zealand) Trust Board, was brought into being. The firm of solicitors, who for years have attended to legal matters for the Salvation Army in New Zealand were represented in order to secure the signatures of Commissioner J. Cunningham, the chief secretary, Colonel L. Taylor, the field secretary, Lieutenant-Colonel F. Burton, the financial secretary, Lieutenant-Colonel A. Hamilton, and the property secretary, Brigadier A. Scotney, as the members of the new board tvhich will henceforth hold in trust for t]ie Salvation Army in New Zealand all the army properties in the Dominion. The officers _ comprising the board are members by virtue of the appointments held by them. In the event, of the head of the army, General E. Higgins, deciding on a change of appointment, the officer appointed to the vacated position will automatically become a member of the trust board. One of the great advantages in the formation of the board will be the obviating of the transfer, at very considerable expense, of properties from the name of one general to another. Such an arrangement as that now carried into effect was one upon which General Higgins had set his mind and heart as being in the interests of the Salvation Army, and likely to be of great benefit for its future working.
