MATCHES IN SECOND ROUND
GRAFTON TO PLAY EDEN,
' The third series of matches in the second round of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior championship will be commenced tomorrow. The principal match is between Grafton, the leading tenm, and Eden. The latter has shown greatly improved form of ]ate and an interesting same should result. } outright win to Eden would make the championship particularly interesting. The other matches at Eden Park are between Parnell and Ponsonby, on the No. 2 wicket, and King's Old Boys and Y.M.C.A. on the Jfo. 3 wicket. At North Shore the local eleven will meet University. Somervell and Hellaby. North Shore: Messrs. Donaldson and Findlay. SUBURBAN MATCHES. / SECOND ROUND COMMENCES. The Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association will commence the second round ja it 3 senior grade competition at the Domain to-morrow. The meeting of Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys and Green Lane ehould provide interesting cricket. Green Lane has shown improved form and likely to extend the grade loaders. On No. 1 wicket Ponsonby will play R.V., while Harbour Board meets Invicta on No. 3 .. wicket. Lower grade matches will be continued. Following .are the teams: — INVICTA. Senior Grade.—Rimmer, Watkins (3), Stirling. Halladay, Mellar, Davies, Russell. Norman, Peebles, Barnes. OTAHUHU ASSOCIATION. The first round of the competition under the control of the Otahuhu Cricket Association was completed on Saturday, all clubs having played eight matches. There has been keen competition among the leading clubs and only eight points separate the three leading teams. Challenge heads the table with 39 points. Railway 'B has 38 and Railway A 31. The position of the other clubs isPassenger Transport, 26; Abattoir, 20; Returned Soldiers, 19: Kemp-thorne-Prosser, 17; St. Joseph's, 9; Relief Workers, 1. .... A proposal to divide the competition into two grades was considered at a meeting of The suggestion, which was rejected, was to form an A grade with the lour leading teams, the other clubs to make ft* second grade. It was decided to extend the season to April 16 and not to accept nominations of new players after this week.
