WOMAN'S ATTACK ON MAN.
A YEAR ON PROBATION.
Home conditions, which were described by the police as sordid, were revealed in (he Police Court yesterday in a case in which Isabel Maxwell, a married woman, aged 35, was charged with assaulting Lewis Stock so as to cause him bodily harm. v Stock, in evidence, said he was a barman and resided in Kinnsland Accused had been living with him as his wife for the past 18 months. On February 4 she attacked him with a razor and lie was so badly cut about the face that he had to have 12 stitches inserted.
In reply to Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., witness said accused's son and two girls lived in (he house also. Mr. Hunt: Does anyone else live there? Witness: Yes; her husband.
Constable McGlone, of Kingsland, said conditions in the home were sordid and were most unsuitable for (ho two girls, who were only 16 and 17 years of age. Accused's husband lived in a little room at the rear of (lie house. Accused had apparently received a severe beating from Stock. The charge against accused was reduced to common assault. She pleaded guilty and was admitted to probation for 12 months. "You will not live with this man any more, I suppose?" Mr. Hunt asked. "I shall marry him as soon as I am free t©," Mrs. Maxwell said as she left the dock.
