FIGHT WITH WOLVES
SOLDIERS WITH BAYONETS.
BEASTS KILL TWO MEN
Owing to heavy snowfalls in South Serbia the railway and automobile lines from Skoplye to Kicevo_and thence to Bitoly were stopped at the end of December. Two soldiers returning from their holiday tried to walk from Kicevo to Skoplye, but were attacked by a pack of wolves. The soldiers had no guns, and with their bayonets killed three wolves. Finally, however, they were overwhelmed and devoured by the beasts. On the following morning a peasant from tho neighbouring village found the tprn cloaks and uniforms of the two men, as well as the carcases of three wolves.
At the village of Rilyev, in Serbia, a peasant, wishing to get food for his animals, was attacked by a bear and killed. When some persons were running to his aid the bear escaped.
According to a message from Marmaros Sziget, Czocho-Slovakia, large packs of wolves have penetrated into the valleys of the Carpathian Mountains, -devouring many domestic animals.
