BOROUGH REVALUATIONS

AMENDMENT TO ACT URGED. DIFFICULTY IN SMALL TOWNS. [from our own correspondent.] MO REINS VILLE, Wednesday. The Morrinsville Borough Council lias addressed a circular to other local bodies seeking support for a proposal to amend, repeal or suspend several sections of the Valuation of Land Act. Promises of support have been received from 16 other boroughs. Commenting 011 the replies received, the Mayor of Morrinsville, Mr. W. T. Osborne, slates that it is clear that the smaller local bodies are having difficulty because of the fall in the value of town land, and the only permanent remedy appears to be to introduce periodic revaluations for each borough. Some borough councils have suggested that valuations should be made every five years.
