FRENCH CABINET FALLS.

DEFEAT IN THE SENATE. RESIGNATION FOLLOWS. WOMEN'S FRANCHISE QUESTION. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. PARIS, Feb. 16. The Laval Government was defeated in the Senate to-day on the proposal to give women the franchise under the Electoral Reform Bill and subsequently it resigned. The adverse vote was 157 to 134. The Senate refused to agree to February 19 as the date for debating general policy, the acceptance of which M. Laval had made a question of confidence. The defeat of the Government necessitates the immediate return from Geneva of the Minister of War, M. Tardieu, leaving M. Boncour to represent France. M. Barthou may form a new Cabinet.
