Captain Sinclair Thomson, the newlyappointed second naval member of the Naval Board, will arrive in Wellington to-night by the Rangitiki from England. Sir William Ellis, a noted English engineer, is among the passengers on the Rangit'ki, which is due at Wellington from England to-night. He is accompanied by Lady Ellis. >»i Mr. G. Howes, of London, Mr. C. M. Jones and Mr. V. Petersen, of Sydney, Mr. C. K. Anderson, of Rotorua. and Mr. H. L. Williamson, of Wairoa, are at the Central Hotel. Mr. Isao Hashimoto, of Tokio. who is investigating the possibilities of increased trade between New Zealand and Japan, left .Auckland last evening for Welling- ! ton. He will return to Auckland in a I few days and will leave at the beginning of next month for Japan.
