PAPATOETOE AFFAIRS.

FIRE INSURANCE RATES. REQUEST FOR REVISION. At the Papatoetoe Town Board meeting last evening the chairman, Mr. W. J. Nicholson, reported that the town water supply plant and system had been inspected by underwriters of the insurance companies and Captain T. J. Watts, advisory superintendent of fire brigades, in connection with the board's application for a revision of fire insurance rates for the district. Pressure tests had been made and the officials had expressed themselves pleased with tho entire, system. Mr. Nicholson said lie understood that a recommendation for a reclassification of tho district fire premium rate had been made as a result of the inspection. A suggestion that the. board should seek permission from the Government to sell all vacant sections held by tho board under property subdivision was submitted by the Papatoetoe Welfare League, which suggested that the proceeds from such sales should be used to purchase land adjacent to the recreation reserve and so provide for extensions of the playing areas. The matter was referred to the Legal and Finance Committee.
