"THE EVER-CHANGING SEA."
J love the sea when it's angry, When tlie foam-flecked waters roar, 'And the heaving billows arc crashing, 'On the barren, rocky shore. JtVhen the waves arc writhing in fury, And flinging tlie white spray high, [At the. foot of the stern, brown, frowning cliffs, 'Where the lonely seagulls cry. I love the sea when it's smiling, All sparkling and placid and bright, Gray-green in the patches of shadow, And flashing blue in the light. When graceful ships glide, white-winged, O'er the waves that dance with glee; 'And play with the laughing mermaids, That blithely beckon inc. When a chill breeze plays round the sandhills, And a pale mist steals o'er tho bay, (Then the sea is murmuring sadly, 'As it washes on sandbanks gray. --By Annis H. M. Burrows, Roberts Line. Kelvin Grovo, Falmerston North (aso 17). (Copied.)
