BRAVERY REWARDED.

A well-known Cheshire League footballer, Fred Kennedy, who plays for Nortbwich, was presented with the Royal Humane Society's parchment at Ashton-under-Lyno a few weeks ago for saving an Oldham woman's life. Kennedy was walking along the towing-path of a canal at Woodhouses when he saw a woman's hat and coat. He made a search and then noticed a woman on the other side of the canal. Although the canal is very deep and dangerous at this point, Kennedy dived into the water fully clothed and rescued the woman.
