EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD. The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of February 4, 1882: In the New Zealand Gazette is published an Order-in-Council redelegating to the Auckland Domain Board the powers conferred by the Public Domains Att, 1881, The board appointed consists of Messrs. G. Aiekin, R. C. Barstow, W. F. Buckland; A. Bull, J. M. Clark, F. D. Fenton, T. Macfarlane. E. A. Maekechnie, T. T. Masefield, S. Morrin, T. Peacock, J. Russell, P. S. Smith and R. J. Yates.. We understand that the Premier, Mr. Hall, has received information from Wellington stating that the ground plans of the Auckland railway station were being prepared and would be ready to be submitted to the Ministers in the course of , a few days. In reference to the great, question of filling in the land wanted for the station, which will be erected at the site at the corner of Queen Street- Wharf, we are informed that a large contractor is willing to contract for the work at Is 9d a yard. The Government are not doing the work cheaper at the present crawling rate. A sample of tea grown and prepared in Auckland was exhibited to the council of the Acclimatisation Society yesterday. The leaves were taken from trees growing in the society's garden and ihe sample was prepared by Mr. Reid, a gentleman from India, and now a settler near Auckland. Mr. T. B. Hill and ether gentlemen saw the operation of the preparation of the tea, and afterwards tasted the liquid -and were pleased with it. Mr. Hill stated that Mr. Reid was of opinion that if the trees were properly pruned so as to get a "flush" of leaf, very good tea could be produced in Auckland.
