OBITUARY.

. MRS. ELEANOR ANN TIDD. A resident of the Auckland district for 68 years, Mrs. Eleanor Ann Tidd, died recently at Auckland at the age of 80 years. She was a staunch supporter of the Methodist Church and for the past 35 years was a regular attendant at the Pitt Street Church. Born in Staffordshire in 1851, Mrs. Tidd came to New Zealand as a girl with her parents and three brothers in the ship Anne Wilson in 1863. Living first in Auckland, she married Mr. Henry Tidd six years later, going with him shortly afterwards to try their fortune on the Thames goldfields. After going next to tako up land in the Kaipara district and then into business in Hamilton, Mrs. Tidd came with her daughter to live in Auckland 35 years ago. Mr. Tidd died many years ago. Mrs. Tidd is survived by two sons and two daughters, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. MRS. CHARLOTTE BAKER. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WHANGAREI, Monday. The death lias occurred in Whangarei of Mrs. Charlotte Baker, aged 91 years. Born in London she lived for a number of years in Birmingham, where she was married. Mr. and Mrs. Baker emigrated to America, but returned to England during the exhibition of 1851 and remained in England until 1879. Then they sailed fo- New Zealand on the sailing ship Firglen, the trip to Auckland lasting 106 days. Six weeks after their arrival they moved to Whangarei and acquired a house on Lookout Hill. Later they purchased a farm at Kaitaia, where they remained until about 1900. Then Mr. and Mrs. Baker came to Whangarei, purchasing a property in Water Street now occupied by their son. MRS. F. M. CLARKE. [FROM OUIt OWN CORRESPONDENT.] TAUJiAXGA, Monday. The death occurred yesterday of Mrs. F. M. Clarke, widow of Mr. H. I'. Clarke, who was well known for a very long period as the owner of To Wairoa tarm, one of the best properties in the Bay of Plenty. In recent years Mrs. Clarke had lived at Mount Maunganui and was a very successful exhibitor at local flower shows for many years. She is survived by three sous —Mr. Clarence Clarke, borough engineer, New Plymouth; Mr. Hector Clarke, fanner, Te Wairoa, Taurangn ; and Mr. Harold Clarke, inspector for the. South British Insurance Company* Hamilton.
