EARLY SETTLER'S DEATH.
MRS. SARAH THOMAS. The death of Mrs. Sarah Thomas, aged 83. which occurred at the residence of licr daughter, Mrs. A. Clareburt, 19, Burnley Terrace, Mount Eden, yesterday, removed a well-known pioneer resident of Auckland. Born in Liverpool, Mrs. Thomas sailed on Christmas Day, 1879, by 11 so sailing ship Loch l)co, and reached .Auckland after a voyage of four months. Accompanied by her husband, Mr. Edward Thomas, whoso death occurred 16 years ago, she settled in tho Mangawai district, but took up residence in Auckland a few years later. Mrs. Thomas revisited Liverpool in 1911. There are five sons surviving—Mr. William Thomas, of Romuera, Mr. Charles Thomas, of Mount Eden, Mr. Harry Thomas, of Kllerslie. Mr. Edward Thomas, of Auckland, and Mr. Frederick Thomas, of Whangarei— and a daughter, Mrs. Clarelull t, of Mount Eden. There are seven grandchildren and one. great-grandchild.
