MR. N. R. McKENZIE'S WORK, PRESENTATION ON RETIREMENT. [BY TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT."J NE~W PLYMQTJTH, Sunday. About 120 teachers of North Taranaki gathered in New Plymouth on Friday; evening to farewell Mr. N. E. McKenzie,' senior inspector for the district, who ii retiring from the service of the Education. Department at the end of the vear after 42 years' service. Mr. J. A. Shimmin, president of the North Taranaki branch of the Teachers' Institute, presided.Among those present were the Mayor, LJ>. H. V. S. Griffiths, Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., chairman, and members of the Taranaki Education Board. During the evening a presentation of a silver tea service was made to Mr. and Mrs. McKenzie on behalf of the teachers. Mr. Smith said that'as chairman of the Education Board he knew what great assistance the senior inspector's sympathetic outlook and broad knowledge had been to tho board. Taranaki had been particularly fortunate in its senior inspector!?, especially in Mr. McKenzie, whfi had had a very distinguished career.
