EPSOM TROTTING TRACK.
PREPARING FOR HAMILTON. NELLA DILLON IN GOOD ORDER. Horses engaged at the Waikato Trotting Club's meeting at Hamilton next Saturday were given useful tasks at Epsom on Saturday. The dirt track was open, until rain foil and afterwards the cinder track was used. On tho dirt track Mountain Dell (L. Mitchell) ran a mile and. a-half in 3.26, the last ha.lf-iiiile in 1.6, going very smartly. Benefice (Iv. Morrison) "showed improvement in stamina by hanging on well" at the end of two miles run in 4.44 3-ss, the last half in 1.8 3-5. Gold Treasure (A. J. Julian) and Rolfe Audubon (L. Laverj ware associated in a solid effort over a mile and a-quarter, running the last mile in 2.13. Gold Treasure, pacing resolutely, went on for another two furlongs in 345. , ;- J. Worthy Cause (Julian) was not fully extended over a mile and a-quarter, but sprinted the last three furlongs at a 2.20 gait, displaying a good deal of dash. Parrish Belle (L. Mitchell) .went steadily over two miles in 5.5, covering the second mile in 2.30. ■ Concertina (F. Herring), with Sir Moko (T. Maxted) as a companion, traversed three circuits at a useful pace. Concertina, "who has not been set aiy serious tasks since_ the Epsom spring meeting, is again shaping up into racing condition. Horizon (L. Mitchell) worked a steady two miles, flegistering approximately 2.30 for each mile. . He paced boldly and •■in spite of his robust condition stuck to his task resolutely. Nella Dillon (T. M. Robertson) went in lazy fashion over a mile and a-half-. in 3.40, running the last half in 1.10. JTella Dillon is in good order'for Hamilton. On the cinder track Prince Etawah (B. A. Shepherd) went away in front of Auto Machine (A. Brown) for a mile and aquarter journey, covered in 2.59. Auto Machine continued for another quartermile in 355. Explosion (W. Clifton) and Holly Boy (P. Morrison) ran a mile together in 2.82. Carnui (F. J. Smith) joined- them at the half-mile post and going on for a further half by himself registered 2.30 for the mile. Later Explosion trotted a mile and a-half in 3.30, finishing well clear of Holly Boy, who had joined him after covering two furlongs. . - Torpedo Huon (J. McKendrick) was given a sound unheppled task over two miles in 4.59. easing up over the last 100 yards. Oliver Thorpe (W. Willetts) worked freely, over several circuits and when allowed to run along briskly on the final circuit showed a. 2.25 gait. Moko Girl (W. Dye) went away thrss lengths clear of Great Ballin (F. J. Smith) for a mile and a-half essay, but after going a furlong she broke badly, and Great Ballin was eased up, the half-mile - occupying 1.21. Once properly into her stride, Moko Girl trotted evenly and boldly to cover the last mile in 2.25. Jock Bingen (F. J. SmitH) trotted without mistake over several laps and was timed to run a mile in 2.26 and a further two furlongs in 355. Gaza (L. Mahoney)" ran a mile and aquarter at a 2.24 clip, improving in the last three furlongs to register 51s. Margaret Wallace (E. G. Sandall) paced easily over three circuits and sprinted two furlongs in 36s down the back. Cleac* (H. Hendriksen) was not fully extended over two miles, but when allowed to increase the pace for one .half recorded 1.12. Cleao has two engagements at Claudelands.
