Heavy- rain fell overnight, but the Forbury Park track dried uis well. Harold Logan's second attempt to set another mile track record was postponed for a , couple of races and the track conditions were then fairly favourable. He went from a short start and covered a furlong in 16 2-ss, the quarter in 335, the half-mile in 1.3 and the mile in 2.4 4-ss. At the half-mile Harold Logan faltered and it 1 transpired that a knock broke away a knee boot. Ho covered the last quarter in 30 2-53. Knocking himself at the turn into the back stretch made all the difference. Harold Logan would go to a great record on a mile track. Ho was a better horse in condition at his second attempt than on tho first day. •• * The card provided some of the most even betting ever seen on the courso and investors at times could not establish anything like a pronounced favourite. Royal Silk won the principal event in good style, but Arikitoa would have provided far more trouble but for dwelling at the start. The principal sprint was spoilt by a bad despatch, which gave Mac Dillon a great advantage, and lie won all tho way. Golden Pedro made lip so much ground that he looked a good thing beaten. Well-backed horses in Louis Bingen and Aristotle settled their chances by breaking. Prior ,to tho racing, H. F. Nicoll, as an outcome of remarks, asked for an inquiry into' Arethusa'a running on the first day. find the judicial- committeo expressed full satisfaction- that there was nothing of a questionable nature about her- form.
