EXTRACTS FROM THE HERALD. PRICES AT WOOL SALE. The following are extracts from the New Zealand Herald of November 30, 1881: The first wool sales of the season were held in Christchurch to-day. The biddings were spirited and nearly all the lots were cleared at satisfactory prices. Merino reached lOd and crossbred 10|d. At yesterday's meeting of the Auckland College and Grammar School Board of Governors Mr. Fenton gave notice that at next meeting he.would move: " That the pupils' fees shall be a charge against the secretary's, salary, from which he will relieve himself by snowing that they are collected 01* that efforts to collect them have been made by {lim in accordance with the resolution of the board." At the municipal elections which took place at Cork, in Ireland, yesterday, various candidates professing sympathy with the Land Leaguers were defeated by considerable majorities.
