Lil Dagover, a famous Continental stage beauty, figures among the new stars to be presented by Warner-First National next year. Dagover's first picture will be "I Spy," adapted from Yarla Yon Jensen's famous book. Production on th« first stages will commence shortly. Ricardo Cortez is equally convincing in his role of a detective who is powerfully attracted to this adventuress, who is both a riddle and a temptress* This tense melodrama is a screen version of the successful novel of the same name.

Miriam Hopkins, who plays a leading feminine role opposite Fredric March in " Dr. Jekvll and Mr. Hyde," has signed a new-contract with Paramount. The blonde star of the Broadway stage has appeared under the Paramount- banner in Fast and Loose " and " The Smiling Lieutenant."
Mr. Harry C. Thomas, formerly of Hoyt's Theatres; Limited, Sydney,, has been appointed manager in New Zealand for Warner Brothers, First National Pictures, Limited, and will arrive in the Dominion by the Maunganui on Tuesday. Mr. Thomas is well known to members of the film trade throughout New Zealand, as he was manager here for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer some years ago.
Dorothy Mackaill will next be seen in the First National picture, " The' Reckless Hour," in which she portrays the part of Margaret Nichols, a beautiful fashion model, whose life is complicated by discordant loves. This romance of modern life gives Miss Mackaill the most sensational, role she has yet played. Conrad t Nagel, H; B. Warner, Joan Blondell and Walter Byron have supporting roles in this picture.,
