THE KITE.
By LUCIE "WINN". Jim made a kite. It was such a pretty one of bright blue paper, and it had a bright blue tail. Then he put it in the cupboard and forgot it. The wind raced round the house. "Come out and play," he shouted. " I can't," said the kite. " I am shut in the cupboard." " I'll soon let you out," said the wind, and ho blew whoo! against the back door and it flew open. Then he blew wheel against the cupboard door and it flew open too.
Out sailed the kite, out of the cupboard and out of the back door.
" Hurrah!" it shouted. " I can fly
now." Jim was playing in the garden and he saw the kite. " Hi! stop," ho shouted. ■" I can't," said the kite. "Well, take me with you,", called
Jim. " Catch hold of my tail," shouted the
kite. Jim took hold of tlio bright bliio tail. Then up and up they flew.' The houses looked like doll's houses, and the trees looked like (lie ones in Jim's Noah's ark. '• Where are wo going?" asked Jim. " To sec the man in the moon," said /the kite. At last they reached the moon. Tho man in tho moon was very pleased to see them. " Won't you slop to tea ? " he asked. " I don't think we can," said Jim. "\ou seo mummy doesn't know I've come." " Well perhaps it wouldn't do," said the man in the moon. " No," said tho kite. "It is time to
g°: Jim took hold of the kite's tail and down and down they flew. They landed in the garden. " I didn't know you could fly so well," said Jim. " You won't leave me in the cupboard always," said the kite. " No," Jim answered, " we will go out again to-morrow."
