HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST.

OVERCAST, WITH HEAVY RAIN

The following weather forecast for 48 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied bv Mr. H. M. Vincent last evening:—The tropical disturbance moving across the northern Tasman Sea is expected .to materially affect Dominion conditions during the week-end, especially the northern portion of the North Island. Cloudy to overcast weather conditions are indicated, with a fairly general rainfall following, heavy in northern and cast coast districts. '1 hunderstorms are expected in parts of North Auckland and east coast areas. Northerly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong, freshening and increasing strong to gale. Seas becoming rough and increasing generally. Local outlook: Overcast, with heavy rain. 1 hunder probable. Warm and humid conditions.

The Government meteorologist imported last evening as follows:—Pressure systems have continued ..to be very sluggish in their movements. Anti-cycloncs are still centred respectively east of the North Island and west of the South Island, while barometers are relatively low to the north of New Zealand. Indications are for light to moderate and variable winds, but easterlies ruling in the far north and southerlies in the southern portion of the South Island. Seas smooth to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate and variable winds, gradually tending northerly; seas smooth to moderate. Weather still mainly fair to fine and warm, but much mist in places. Fog may be expected in the northern and southern extremities of the Dominion and on the cast coast of the South Island. Further scattered rainfall is probable in the Auckland province.
