EXPRESS TIME-TABLE.
SERVICE TO WELLINGTON. AFTERNOON START FAVOURED. Strong approval of the proposed alteration in tho time-table, of the Main Trunk express to Wellington, under which it would leave Auckland at 3 p.m. instead of 7.40 p.m. as now, was expressed at tho meeting of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce council yesterday. Mr. Harvey Turner said it would be an excellent arrangement if the timetable were altered. Many people who wished to travel on the limited express found they could not get a berth and were forced to travel oil the later train, which did not reach Wellington until late the next day. There was less opportunity of doing business than there would be if the train left in the. afternoon. He considered many people would travel by an afternoon train in preference to the limited express.
It was decided to write to the Railways Board expressing strong approval of the proposed alteration.
