HERALD'S SPECIAL FORECAST. CLOUDY AND UNSETTLED. The following weather forecast for 24 hours from 7 a.m. to-day was supplied by IT. M. Vincent Inst, evening:— Tropical influences are still pronounced 'on the northern Tasman Sea, a slowmoving depression being located in (he vicinity of Norfolk Island. There has been very little change in barometric pressure over New Zealand, pressure remaining high. A decrease, in pressure is now expected, owing to the approach of the tropical disturbance. Expect, fair to cloudy weather, overcast at times, with rain in northern and East Coast districts. Easterly to north-easterly winds, moderate to strong. Sens moderate, although fairly rough on the east coast of the. North Island, particularly northward from East Cape. Local outlook: Cloudy and unsettled, with intermittent rain, chiefly in the morning. Warm and humid condit ions. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 30.3 0 in. Midnight, Wednesday .. 30.30:n. Temperature in shade' yesterday (to midnight)— Maximum. 70d«g., Minimum, GOdeg. GOVERNMENT REPORT. The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows: —Pressure is now high over and on both sides of New Zealand, but relatively low to the northward. Indications are for moderate northeasterly winds in the far north; elsewhere light and variable. Seas mostly smooth. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate variable winds and smooth to moderate seas.
